Taffy is a sable and white collie and she is approximately five years old. Taffy came to us from a shelter in Arkansas and when she first came to TSCR we discovered that she was a very sick little girl. Taffy was in kidney failure, possibly from medicine that she had been given for Ehrlichia (a tick-bourne disease). She spent quite a while recovering at the veterinarian's before becoming healthy enough to go to her foster home. Her foster family has continued to work with her to help her to become what she is now - a smart little collie that is full of life and personality.
Taffy gets along well with other dogs, children, and is even friendly with the free range chickens at her foster home. She has not yet been tested with cats. Taffy does enjoy playing with squeaky toys, zipping around and being silly, but she also likes being a couch potato in her down time.
Taffy is a great dog that needs a special home. She will most likely need to be given intravenous fluids once or twice a week, along with two supplements and a special diet. All together, the vet approximates that these needs will cost about $50.00 (including the food) per month for her care.
We here at TSCR feel that Taffy deserves the chance to have a special home of her own with someone willing to give her these small extra things she needs in return for her unconditional collie love. The vet assures us that she will be able to live a very full and happy life with just a few precautions. If you think that you would like to adopt Taffy and take care of her special needs, please submit an application via our website.
