The eyes say it all. Anyone who looks into sweet Scarlet's eyes are entranced by her unbelievable expressions. And now, finally, a human is there to look back and see the love and intelligence that she has waited her whole life to share.
Scarlet came from a hoarding situation and has made great strides under her foster family’s care. She is learning basic manners, is pretty darned good on her house training, and is excellent in her crate. The secret to her successful training? Patience. Plus, she loves, loves, loves attention.
Don’t let her gentle eyes fool you into thinking this is a docile creature. Scarlett runs like lightning, and can match the play of the most energetic collies! She enjoys it so much that her perfect home will have another collie or two. (She didn’t get along with a smaller dog in her foster home, however, so we hesitate to adopt to a home with small dogs or cats.)
Her adoptive owners will need patience as Scarlet overcomes her understandable skittishness around new environments and experiences -- like walking on a leash. She is very smart and wants to please and she thrives when she understands what is expected of her. Scarlet is improving every day with her training.
Scarlet came to us with a skin infection which has now cleared up. Her coat will soon be in its collie glory.
Scarlet’s temperament, looks, and health status add up to a wonderful dog with plenty of potential. Soon, those eyes will be telling you how much she adores her new home -- and you.
Scarlet is being fostered at Ohio.
