Maisie was owner turn in at a shelter, she had two different homes in her young life and both tied her outside when they could not get her trained. The shelter noticed that something was not quite right as she had lots of loose stools. So they relinquished her to us. After being vetted and spayed it was discovered she has EPI. Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency, EPI, is somewhat common in collies and shepherds.
Maisie has never met a stranger, she is a sweet warm outgoing little girl. She loves a lap to crawl into and is very affectionate with lots of Collie kisses.
Because she has pancreatic insufficiency she will need powdered enzymes added to her food for life. These enzymes help break down her food so she gets nourishment from the food. At this time she is also getting B12 shots for 6 weeks then monthly until her B12 is up to normal.
This little bundle of energy is a delight and would brighten and family. Buttttt the great news is her foster Mom took Maisie to get her weighed today and she has already gained 3 lbs in a week of treatment! Maisie is on the right track now and looking for a special family of her own. One who can care for her special needs.
Maisie is being fostered in Northern WV.
