Indy - Sheltie Mix
Age: 12 years old Sex: Male Weight: 48 lbs House trained: Yes Crate trained: No Good with dogs: Mostly Good with cats: Yes Good with kids: Unknown We always try to include individual behavior or medical challenges when we describe dogs for potential forever families, but we’re at a loss for this guy. So far during his foster, we have found no problems -- unless you consider a calm sheltie mix who rarely barks a problem. (Apartment and condo owners, take note of his quiet temperament.) Oh, and he doesn't like anyone clipping his nails -- which, our vet informs us, indicates he is a dog! Indy’s owner surrendered him to a shelter when she was moving across country, but we were able to bring him into a foster home quickly so he didn’t have to go through an extensive period of massive confusion. After a visit with the vet (where he didn’t appreciate the blood draw for his heartworm test) and some grooming, he has settled nicely into his foster home with three companion resident collies. This guy is always happy, from the moment he wakes and presents his tummy for a nice morning rub! During the day, he would prefer to nap quietly by your chair. He loves a good walk, and he thanks you by walking with a loose leash. He knows basic manners -- sit, down, shake, and wait. Indy has let the resident young collies know that he doesn’t intend to play with them, and he prefers staying by the resident senior female collie. His best forever family situation, then, might be with another senior dog or as the lone dog in your heart. He will fill your heart for sure, especially when his big brown intelligent eyes look into yours. Indy is being fostered in Maryland. |
