Hello, my name is Ginger and I am three years old and from my lovely white collar to my fuller-figure everything about me screams Victorian royalty!
I am a lovely girl who used to reside on a commercial breeding farm and am now looking for a forever family. I am completely housebroken, I love attention, I don’t get on furniture, I like other dogs and children but my foster mom has never seen me around kitties. I know I need to lose a couple pounds so I have been dieting and walking a little more. I am keenly aware of my smaller bowls so I am a little grumpy if someone comes too close to my meager meals. I don’t lash out and can be fed with other dogs, but don’t want them too close to my bowl.
I didn’t know how to walk on a leash previously and I am still working on that, but doing much better. I don’t notify my foster mom when I need to go out, but I wait patiently and she gives me several opportunities to go in and out during the day. After about 10:00 p.m. I am good until around 8:00 a.m. the next morning. I haven’t learned much in the way of basic obedience, but I am eager to please and extremely food motivated. Someone who is calm and consistent with basic commands could have me performing in no time at all.
My former home allowed me to run free and I sometimes spent entire days running around in the woods and I have found I really like the security of a fence and would prefer to have one in my new home. I currently have the ability to go in a crate if I choose, but I would rather stay out and that is fine with my foster mom as I have great indoor behavior and don’t chew. So far, I haven’t been extremely verbal but will bark when the little girls next door first come out to play or when the doorbell rings. If other dogs in the house begin to bark, I will give into peer pressure and sing along, but it is very short lived.
Right now we are working on “stay” when my foster mom goes out the door as I just really love companionship all of the time. She has let me go with her a few times in the car, but I really don’t enjoy it and it sometimes makes my tummy upset.
Being a homebody with walks and a playmate wouldn’t upset me at all, I don’t feel the need to be on-the-go all of the time. If you think we may be kindred spirits, please apply for me, Ginger.
I am presently being fostered in Kentucky.
