Fallon is a petite sable and white rough collie puppy. She originated from a breeder where she was kept in an outdoor pen until recently so she isn’t as social as most pups her age. She does love other dogs and tends to look to them to see if it is OK to go out, OK to get on furniture, etc.
Fallon loves to play and once she is familiar with you, will come when called and will come to you to get pets. She is not leash trained very well. She darts about 4 foot and then lays down, darts another 4 foot and then lay down and sometimes she won’t move at all. Leash work is a daily activity and she should be walking well in no time.
Fallon is currently in a 3 x 5 open top pen when she is left alone and appreciates a peanut butter Kong when placed in there . If a closed crate is used, there may be some whining and crying initially, but she should settle straight away. Her house breaking is spotty, but in general she is doing very well. When kept on a schedule we are almost 100.
She does like toys and you have to watch her around laundry baskets as she likes to chew socks and cotton shirts. She also likes to eat paper if she can get to it, so all tissues, etc. get placed in the step on can and we leave the bathroom door closed when she is bouncing about.
Fallon is still very timid when around new people and takes a little bit of time to warm up. A completely fenced yard is a must with Fallon and we prefer she be placed in a home with another dog.
If you have the time and patience to work with a timid pup Fallon may be the perfect girl for you. You can apply at www.tristatecollierescue.org.
