Cherish is an 11 year old blonde sable and white collie who was a breeder surrender when the breeder shut her operation down.
Cherish has been spayed and is up to date on vaccinations. She does have a nervous habit of chewing on her backside right above her tail to the point of irritating her skin, but she is improving.
Her previous owner said she would climb fences or open gates; however, she's done neither at her foster home, even with a temporary construction fence. She walks well on a leash but she will not go to the bathroom while on a leash. Cherish wants to find her spot in the yard on her own terms.
Cherish is house trained, barking to go outside. She will also 'talk' (woofs and grumbles) to you to let you know when she's hungry. She does like to eat and will investigate any snack you're indulging in to make sure there's some to share with her.
She's crate trained but trust worthy in the house to not need to be crated. She likes to sleep on one of the dog beds next to her human's bed to be close by.
She will stand patiently while being brushed but then will go outside and rub against the fence like a cat. She loves ear rubs and chin scratches!
Like any collie, she's fond of children and will follow little ones around to make sure they're safe. She does fine with other dogs, collies and small dogs, cats are an unknown.
Cherish is not a barker, and when guests arrive, she politely comes to meet them, expecting everyone will be thrilled to scratch her ears or rub her chin. She'll follow you around the house to make sure she doesn't miss any activity.
Cherish is being fostered in Kentucky.
