Cara is a 12 yr old sable and white spayed female collie. She is sweet, gentle, and loving despite suffering neglect for several years. She is getting along well with adults, children, and the male collie in her foster home. She has met some neighbor dogs and is very polite and well-behaved. We have not experienced any cats.
Cara has wonderful house manners. She is house-trained and crate-trained (though she prefers not to be crated because of her past). She enjoys a nice soft dog bed and also the sofa with permission. She has not attempted the stairs and may not be physically able. Cara is quiet indoors and out. She uses her voice most when excited and playing.
Cara has not had good dental care and will need those issues addressed in the future. Therefore, she prefers soft food and treats. Currently, she is eating a high-quality canned food mixed with rice and water to increase her fluid intake. She is taking anti-inflammatory medication to help with any discomfort of aging joints.
Cara needs to regain some muscle strength so moderate exercise is important. She is doing very well on 2-3 walks and 1-2 free play sessions per day. She enjoys her exercise but tires quickly. She does very well on leash.
Cara is sweet and gentle and prefers not to be alone. She moves from room-to-room with her foster Mom during the day. She often sleeps by the door when left for short periods. She is very happy when her foster family returns.
Cara needs someone willing to give her some extra TLC to make her strong and healthy. She will repay you with gentle loving collie companionship forever.
Cara is being fostered in WV.
